Places | Lake Natron

Lake Natron is a salt lake located in Tanzania. The alkaline waters have such a high pH that it burns the animals that aren't used to it. Photographer Nick Brandt has discovered washed up calcified animals and has taken these lovely and creepy photos. The way he positioned these animals gives you an emotion of how in a blink of an eye they have turned to stone. Like some sort of sorcery. I loved how he captured them. Truly mesmerizing.
