Chainsaws & Jelly | March Muse

March muse is in session with Miss Lyn Melodix!  We had the chance to capture her fun and funky self!  She's rocking a really cute Superholik sweatshirt and an awesome Good Wood NYC necklace.

I kept it pretty and pin-uppy for the make-up! As always nothing too fake for the funk because our muses speaks for themselves.  Shouts to the homie Efrain Mercado aka Eggs for always being there with the photography for Chainsaws and Jelly.

So go ahead, and enjoy more action after the jump!

How did you get into singing?
I started singing at a young age. I was in the choir since second grade and I found myself always wanting to be surrounded by music. My father played the guitar and encouraged me to pick up an instrument so I began to play the violin. My parents both have a connection to music. My mom is this soulful hippie who I believe still thinks she is in the 70's and I can always find my dad singing to The Beatles or Elvis around the house. I guess that's where I get it from. I sing all day, every day.

What are you working on these days?
Right now my main focus is writing. I was unemployed for almost two years and that pretty much gave me an eye opener as far as rediscovering my gifts. I enjoy writing poetry, although I can be very selfish with sharing it, and lately I find myself snapping more photos than ever. I honestly want to work on a photo portfolio and continue writing. It's a form of expression and living the life I live, it's a form of sanity. Being creative balances everything out.

When you write where do you get your inspirations from?
I am inspired by everything. I walk outside to the rain, snow, the moon and I'm inspired. Hearing people argue, seeing people in love, I mean, everything inspires. Sounds inspire me the most. I mainly enjoy beat tapes. The fact that there aren't any lyrics, just straight instrumentals, allow my mind to create a story.

What are your likes and dislikes on the music industry?
I find a lot of unfairness in the music industry. There are artists with ridiculous amount of talent who are never discovered. Meanwhile you have artists who suck, for lack of better words, and that have million dollar contract deals. What I do like is the fact that music now is so easily discovered. Whether they are signed or not, I enjoy the fact I can google artists or search on bandcamp for music. It wasn't like that back then, and I think that allows artists to really push themselves, even as an independent artists. It seems to be the way everyone is doing it.

What did you enjoy about the photoshoot?
I enjoyed everything, seriously. I felt so honored to be a muse for Chainsaws and Jelly (I've been following your blog for years!) Working with Sheena and Eggs was fun. Sheena brings great vibes, so just being in the presence of artists who enjoy the same things you do always feels good. It was such a lovely day too! We've had really cold and gloomy days, so a little sun and warm weather was definitely appreciated. I also enjoyed the makeup. I'm always the one doing my own makeup so taking a break felt good. The best part was not having to go anywhere. I love my neighborhood, so shooting around my home made it a little more personal.
