November 1st is All Saints Day and November 2nd is All Souls' Day. Many different cultures celebrate these 2 days especially in the Philippines. It is considered a major holiday next to Christmas. To many Filipinos, Day of the Dead is called 'araw ng mga patay'. Another name for these 2 days combined is "Undas." From hearing stories from my mother, it's more of a celebration filled with food, festivities and drinking in the cemeteries of the deceased.
For this look, I wanted a brighter disposition than the usual dark and creepy. I wanted bright and creepy at the same time. I only used black around the eyes and the little details. I contoured my face into the shape of a skull using a bright purple instead of black. Oh and yes I manipulated the photos to get that dark feel.
