Polite Conversations w/ Paula Ocot of Beauty Logistics

Being a makeup artist, what's the best thing about it?

Hands down, the best thing about being a makeup artist is making other people feel good in their own skin! Everyone has their own natural beauty and I love accentuating each person I meet.

How many years have you been doing makeup?

I have been doing makeup ever since I was 15, so in total- ten years! I started off doing my girlfriends faces during homeroom, and progressed to doing models and actresses as they years went on.

What brands have you represented?

I have represented Aura Science, Sephora, Vincent Longo, Smashbox, Too Faced, Fresh, and was the product developer for Mattesse.

You post great makeup on beauty logistics! What are your favorite items so far?

My newest favorite item is the Too Faced Natural Eye Kit. It comes with different shades of natural colors that look good no matter what time of day.

My overall favorite items are Bond No.9 fragrance in “China Town”. The scent is so yummy and intoxicating you will literally be turning heads everywhere you go.

And lastly Makeup Forever Smokey Lash because it creates the perfect frame for sexy eyes.

Whats your colors for Fall 2009?

The colors for fall 2009 are very sultry and sexy, think femme noir – Veronica Lake. Smokey Eyes with a glossy deep red lip. Sounds so pretty!

As for makeup, what do you suggest for skincare?

Well, skincare is so important. I have really been getting into the habit of using products that are paraben / fragrance / dye free. I swear up and down by the “Fresh” Soy Face Cleanser. It is a gentle cleanser with a mean cleansing power, plus it’s a cleanser and toner in one, which makes life easier for me.

And I never ever ever leave the house without wearing sunscreen. I love the Korres Watermelon Natural Sun Protection SPF 30, you can substitute it for your moisturizer and it smells so fresh!

Name 3 beauty must haves for everyday:

The first beauty must have is again, my Korres watermelon face sunscreen. Then it would have to be my Too Faced eyebrow pencil in brow-ney. I can’t go a day without filling in my brows even a lil’! They frame your eyes, and I personally find that this pencil gives the most natural results! And lastly it would be Burt’s Bees “Beeswax Lip Balm” I can never have crusty lips, and this lip balm keeps your lips soft and moisturized and ready to kiss. Plus it has that minty feeling after you put it on. Super cool. Literally, no pun intended.

Thanks for taking the time for the polite convo. Are there any closing statements for the interview?
